Blue Oyster mushrooms are easy to incorporate into any dish- soups, casseroles, risotto- you name it. This mushroom is known for containing a natural compound that can help to lower your cholesterol- lovastatin. As such, this mushroom is not only tasty but is good for you too!
The kit arrives ready-to-fruit, which means you don’t need to do any inoculation or long waiting around for colonisation. Just open the front panel of the box, cut a little “X” in the side of the block so the mushrooms have a place to emerge, then mist once or twice a day to maintain humidity. With good care, you’ll start seeing mushrooms to harvest in about two weeks. The block can keep yielding mushrooms over several flushes, so you get more value for your effort.
You can expect yields of around 1kg or more of fresh Blue Oyster mushrooms from the 3 kg block, depending on your setup and how well you maintain conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow). The space required is minimal so this is perfect for kitchens, small flats, or even a balcony.
